Hair Health: 10 Simple Breakfast Solutions that are Recipes for Success

Hey there curly queens! In anticipation of a big event I have to attend at the end of spring, I’ve been doing my best to drop my holiday weight efficiently, but in a healthy manner. The frosty damp winter weather has made it difficult for me to get motivated about maintaining a strict, high impact exercise routine, so I’ve been compensating for my minimal cardio and weight training rituals, by really staying on top of my diet. Don’t worry curly cuties, I’m not doing anything too drastic- you won’t hear me endorsing eating like a dinosaur or eliminating all gluten- I’m just trying to make better choices about what I choose to eat, and this includes making sure I get breakfast in my belly every morning.

As the first meal in the AM, breakfast ultimately sets the tone for the rest of your day. It kick starts your metabolism and gives you that first much needed burst of energy, while also allowing your body the time to absorb and process all the necessary nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants that help you feel great and look gorgeous. Skipping this meal and waiting to eat a mid-day lunch, will leave you feeling sluggish, even agitated. Opting for just a piece of toast and some coffee will give you some fuel to make it through to lunch, but the lack of vitamin diversity in the morning could eventually take a toll on your bodily functions and even your physical appearance, in the long run. I understand that having a hectic schedule can make breakfast seem like not much of a priority, but I have a delicious solution to making sure you get all the vitamins you need that takes only a few minutes, does not create much mess, and can easily be taken on the go- smoothies!

I know what you are thinking- can a smoothie really be filling? Well it really depends on what you put in them. Adding a little bit of raw oats, chia, or flax seeds creates a heavier consistency, without adding much to the calorie count or negatively altering the flavor. Not only are smoothies filling, but also they are an amazing way to brighten up even the bleakest morning. I have more energy after one fruit and veggie based smoothie, than I do after three cups of coffee. And yes- that’s fruit and veggie based! My favorite recipes consist of both elements, and though at first glance this combination seems a little odd, I promise if executed properly, you will not taste the varying flavors and textures of each individual ingredient. What you will taste is a frothy, fresh, mixture of yummy goodness, just as sweet as any indulgent milkshake, except you won’t feel guilty about licking the sides of your cup, after slurping up that final sip.

It’s important to make sure that you daily food intake not only consists of well-balanced bites, but enjoying what you eat is important too. The less you feel you are restricting or depriving yourself of something, the more likely it will be that you will cheat and fall off the health wagon. These smoothies are great because they fill me up, give me energy, and also satisfy my sweet tooth. Also, incorporating at least one smoothie drink in my daily eating routine has already helped me drop some unwanted lbs during the past few weeks. However, it is also important to remember that eating well isn’t just about weight loss, it’s about personal preservation; good choices you make for your diet helps promote an overall healthy lifestyle. Eating well fortifies your immune system, strengthens your muscles and bones, it even improves the condition of your skin, hair, and nails. Not only do I have more energy, but my skin, hair, and nails have never looked better, and I feel more confident than ever to take on the world. This is why people say having breakfast is the most significant meal you will eat all day- it really winds you up and gets you going. So start your day off right with a recipe for success- check out some of my favorite smoothie recipes, right here!
