Style Watch: Lollapalooza Looks
Every year, concert junkies and music enthusiasts gather in Chicago, IL for the Lollapalooza lineup. This year, the line up included performances by Eminem, Childish Gambino, Chromeo, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Skrillex, Outkast, Lourde, Artic Monkeys, NAS, the Kooks, Iggy Azalea, The Avett Brothers, Interpol, Chance the Rapper, Kate Nash, Warpaint, Lucius, plus many many more. It was a nonstop party that even a little rain couldn’t stop.
It seems like 2014 Lollapalooza’s style scene was just as diverse as the musical taste of concert goers, and comfort without sacrificing chicness seemed to be the shared mantra of the crowd. I was particularly fascinated by the amount of vintage fashion throwbacks present at the outdoor festival. Almost everyone looked as if they had stepped out of a documentary for an iconic concert of the past, like Woodstock ’69 or a set at CBGB during the summer of ’77. Flirty, flowing, floral bohemian dresses intermingled with hard punk leathers and studs, structured, mod new wave tailored suits, and subtle touches of high fashion labels. It was the perfect amalgamation of retro, vintage, and contemporary styles, uniting under the same umbrella of creative expression and a love of music.
