Happy Halloween to all my favorite curlfriends! After an evening of trick or treating, chasing your kids up and down the streets, you probably want to relax and unwind. On the other hand, your kids are still riding out their sugar high and don’t want their Halloween shenanigans to end with an early bedtime. A movie is always a happy compromise, and as they sort through their goodies, you can curl up on the couch with some warm cider, until they mellow out and cuddle up with you. Unsure of what to put on? Well here are some classic Halloween movie classics that the whole family can enjoy!

1. Hocus Pocus
Starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and a young Thora Birch. My personal favorite!

Watch out—those Sanderson sisters will put a spell on you!

2. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
It’s not a holiday, without some Peanuts.

Dear Great Pumpkin…

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Jack Skellington brings Christmas to Halloween Town.

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene!

4. The Addams Family
Dunn dun dun dun (Snap! Snap!)

And don’t forget the sequel, The Addams Family Values

5. Beetlejuice
Say his name three times, and prepare for an interesting evening.

It’s show time!

6. Ghostbusters
Who you gonna call?

Make a night of it by also screening the sequel, Ghostbusters II

7. Coraline
A little girl’s secret wish opens the door to a parallel universe, but as the old adage goes, be careful what you wish for.

8. The Corpse Bride
Starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, this is Tim Burton’s stop motion animation film about the love between a man and ghost.

9. The Witches
The film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic book, starring Anjelica Huston.

10. Monster House
Produced by Robert Zemeckis and Stephen Spielberg, this spooky comedy is about three friend’s exploring the haunted house on their block.

11. Edward Sissorhands
A heart wrenching movie about an unconventional romance that blossoms within a fantastical landscape and poses the question, what makes a real monster? I know this isn’t traditionally regarded as a Halloween movie, but Tim Burton’s signature gothic aesthetic does give it a somewhat spooky vibe, without being so scary that the kids won’t be able to sleep. Plus anything that includes Vincent Price is totally Halloween appropriate!

12. Young Frankenstein
This Mel Brooks comedy is a satirical spin on the original Frankenstein story.

13. Frankenweenie
The misadventures of a Frankenstein-like puppy.

14. Casper
He’s the friendliest ghost you’ll know!

15. The Goonies
Four friends journey on the adventure of a lifetime, in this 1980s classic. Binge on your candy treats, and prepare to truffle shuffle.

16. Haunted Mansion
Based on the infamous Disney World ride, Eddie Murphy plays Jim Ever’s, a man in pursuit of more family bonding time, so organizes a family vacation. Unfortunately, the location of his choice happens to have it’s own supernatural agenda.

17. The Frighteners
Michael J. Fox plays a psychic that can communicate with the dead. Think the Sixth Sense, but as a kid friendly comedy.

18. Twitches
Tia and Tamara Mowry play twin witches.

19. Double, Double Toil and Trouble
Back from when the Olsen twins were still little and on Full House, they starred in this supernatural adventure about mysterious family secrets.

20. Monsters Inc.
Pixar movies never fail to disappoint, ad this adorable comedy starring Billy Crystal and John Goodman, is no exception.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween Curly Cuties!
