Style Watch: Met Gala
Ok, so unless you are living under a rock, you have probably heard about the recent Carter/Knowles family showdown in a hotel elevator, following the Met Gala this year. Unfortunately it seems that the controversial brawl occurring between Solange Knowles and Jay-Z, became the primary focus of the press for this iconic fashion event, completely overshadowing the real reason why people attend, read about, donate to the Met Gala—THE FASHION! How quickly we forget the whole purpose of the event, when a little media drama makes front page news.
The Met Gala is the only event that each year, celebs go all out, strutting their stuff while dressed head to toe in haute couture. Forget about the Oscars, Emmys, or Tonys—from comedians, to athletes, to musicians, to film and TV stars, everyone puts their best fashionista foot foreword, breaking out of the shell of their public personas and transforming into elegant, regal, sophisticated, floating canvases for the designers responsible for creating these garments—garments that can only be described as works of art. So we would like to give a shout out to the celebs and designers we think really pushed the envelope in their fashion efforts this year.
